NYC 2027 Calendar: Major Dates, Events & Month-by-Month Planning
A useful 2027 New York calendar should separate dates that are already confirmed from event details that are still subject to current-year announcements. NYC Dayline has verified a strong planning spine from January through August 2027 using official city, school, sports and organizer sources. For September through December 2027, this hub deliberately avoids copying 2026 festival, parade, promotion or holiday-event dates forward before the responsible organizer publishes the new schedule.
NYC public schools are closed; use live city-service guidance for operational details.
The 2027 exhibition runs through April 25.
The official parade runs on Fifth Avenue; use the current organizer page for final day-of guidance.
The 2027 public show window is confirmed at Javits Center.
The Mets’ published 2027 schedule starts the first Citi Field home series on April 2.
The Yankees visit the Mets for the first 2027 Subway Series.
The official 2026–27 school calendar ends classes for students on Monday, June 28.
July 4 falls Sunday; NYC observes the holiday Monday, July 5.
ATP’s published 2027 calendar places the US Open in New York beginning this week.
Use fixed dates as anchors — keep operational details live
Federal and city holidays, the NYC public-school calendar, published sports schedules and organizer-announced event windows can be useful far in advance. They are strong anchors for flights, hotels and broad itinerary shape.
Gate times, ticket products, parade access, transit service, street closures, sanitation, museum hours and weather-dependent operations are different: those should be rechecked close to the actual date.
Book around the confirmed anchor; verify the operational layer again before the trip.
January–February 2027: holiday finales give way to winter NYC
January begins with the last major holiday-season attractions and quickly transitions into ordinary winter planning. February is stronger for indoor anchors, with the Orchid Show beginning before Midwinter Recess.
Do not recycle prior-year Broadway Week or Restaurant Week dates into 2027 until NYC Tourism publishes the current promotion windows.
- Jan 4 — Christmas Spectacular finale
- Jan 10 — NYBG Holiday Train Show finale
- Jan 18 — MLK Day; NYC public schools closed
- Feb 6 — NYBG Orchid Show public opening
- Feb 15–19 — NYCPS Midwinter Recess
- Feb 28 — Bryant Park skating-season finale
March–April 2027: parade, Auto Show, baseball and Spring Recess
This is one of the strongest confirmed planning stretches of the year because several independent calendars already overlap. Use the Auto Show and baseball dates as fixed anchors, but keep game times, promotions and event-day transit live.
Spring weather remains variable enough that an indoor alternative is useful even on park-heavy trips.
- Mar 9 — Eid al-Fitr; NYC public schools closed
- Mar 17 — St. Patrick’s Day Parade
- Mar 26 — New York Auto Show public days begin; Good Friday school closure
- Apr 2 — Mets home opener / first Citi Field home series
- Apr 22–30 — NYCPS Spring Recess
- Apr 25 — NYBG Orchid Show final day
May–June 2027: school-calendar dates, baseball and the summer handoff
May has several useful baseball and school-calendar anchors. June needs more careful wording because Regents Administration includes exam days and separate rating days; it should not be flattened into one blanket “schools closed” period.
Pride and other large June event details should come from the current 2027 organizers once their schedules are published rather than from the 2026 calendar.
- May 17 — Eid al-Adha; NYC public schools closed
- May 28–30 — Yankees at Mets, Citi Field Subway Series
- May 31 — Memorial Day
- Jun 15–17 and Jun 21–24 — NY State Regents exam days
- Jun 18 — observed Juneteenth / rating day; no State exams
- Jun 25 — rating day; no State exams
- Jun 28 — last day of NYC public school for students
July–August 2027: summer holidays, baseball and US Open planning
Summer planning is less about stacking the most outdoor mileage and more about using mornings and evenings well. Heat, storms and air quality can materially change bridges, waterfronts, observation decks and long neighborhood walks.
For August, use NYC DOT’s current 2027 Summer Streets schedule and the official US Open session calendar once published. Do not carry the 2026 Saturdays, main-draw start, session numbering or gate rules forward as 2027 facts.
- Jul 4 — Independence Day
- Jul 5 — observed NYC city holiday
- Jul 9–11 — Dodgers at Citi Field
- Jul 16–18 — Mets at Yankees, second Subway Series
- Aug 29 — ATP calendar places the US Open in New York beginning this week
September–December 2027: do not publish prior-year event dates as current facts
NYC will again have major fall and holiday-season activity, but many organizer calendars for September through December 2027 are not published this far ahead. NYFW, UNGA operational impacts, fall promotions, festival schedules, Halloween operations, the Marathon, Thanksgiving events and holiday attractions all need current-year confirmation.
This hub will add those dates as official organizers and agencies publish them. Until then, a 2026 date is historical context, not a 2027 schedule.
For late-2027 travel, use the season to choose the trip window now and wait for the current organizer calendar before locking event-specific days.
Choose the month by the trip you actually want
Winter is strongest for indoor-heavy planning and lower outdoor mileage; spring combines major events with improving walking weather; summer brings long daylight but higher heat-management needs.
Families should put the NYCPS recess and closure calendar beside hotel and attraction decisions. Sports-focused trips should start with the published league schedule, then add neighborhoods and dining around the venue rather than treating the game as an isolated transfer.
The best month is the one whose fixed anchors fit your trip style — not simply the month with the longest event list.
