Grand Central Holiday Fair 2026: Dates, Hours, Thanksgiving Closure & How to Visit
Grand Central Holiday Fair is confirmed for November 9 through December 24, 2026, inside Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal. This indoor artisan market can be a weather-proof holiday shopping stop, especially when you are already visiting Midtown. The organizer lists a special Christmas-week schedule and a Thanksgiving closure. Be aware that its general weekday opening-hours summary conflicts with the detailed date-specific calendar; check both before a late visit.

2026 dates and exact location inside Grand Central
Grand Central Terminal confirms November 9 through December 24, 2026, for the Holiday Fair. Its stalls operate in Vanderbilt Hall inside the historic rail terminal, at 89 East 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017. Do not confuse the fair with the shops in Grand Central Market or an outdoor holiday village near the station.
Vanderbilt Hall is a convenient Midtown East destination with access from the terminal. The fair is indoors, so it makes a useful alternative to open-air shopping when the forecast calls for cold rain, snow or wind.
For transit navigation, choose Grand Central–42 St, then follow signs toward the Main Concourse and Vanderbilt Hall.
Grand Central Holiday Fair 2026 hours and the official discrepancy
The organizer’s detailed calendar lists November 9–December 16 hours as Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m. It also explicitly says the fair is CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026.
For December 17–23 the event page gives Christmas-week hours of 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Christmas Eve, December 24, is listed as 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and is the final scheduled day.
Important: the same official page contains a different general weekday summary of Monday–Friday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. This conflicts with the more specific November 9–December 16 weekday hours of 10 a.m.–7 p.m. We do not treat the later closing time as guaranteed. If arriving after 7 p.m. before December 17, confirm hours with Grand Central first.
- November 9–December 16: Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m. (detailed date-specific schedule)
- November 26 (Thanksgiving): closed
- December 17–23: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
- December 24: 10 a.m.–6 p.m., last day
The terminal building itself has much longer operating hours; they are not Holiday Fair hours.
What can you find at the indoor artisan market?
Grand Central describes a 6,000-square-foot artisan market with handcrafted jewelry, pottery, artwork and giftable items. Exact prices, available styles and merchant selection depend on the current vendors, so the organizer’s Vendor Map & Directory is a more reliable reference than a vendor list copied from 2025.
A casual browse may fit in 30–60 minutes; leave more time if you are comparing gifts from several merchants. Entry arrangements are described on the public official event page, which does not advertise a separate timed-entry ticket. Purchases from vendors cost extra.
Check the current official vendor directory if you want a particular craft or seller, rather than assuming past booths return.
How to get to Grand Central Holiday Fair by subway or rail
Grand Central Terminal officially lists the 4, 5, 6, 7 and S subway lines as serving the station. Metro-North service runs into Grand Central Terminal, and Long Island Rail Road reaches the complex through Grand Central Madison.
Follow interior wayfinding to Vanderbilt Hall; it is not located at the LIRR platform or next to the subway turnstiles. Use current MTA service alerts if your trip depends on a particular line, accessible elevator or transfer. Midtown holiday road traffic makes public transit the safer default for travel planning.
Allow additional walking time from the deep Grand Central Madison LIRR concourse.
Grand Central vs Bryant Park and other NYC holiday markets
Grand Central is the confirmed indoor artisan-shopping option. Bryant Park Winter Village offers outdoor kiosks, food and skating. You can visit both on one Midtown day, but they serve different purposes: Grand Central emphasizes indoor gifts, while Bryant Park is stronger for an outdoor holiday atmosphere.
Union Square and Columbus Circle markets are worth choosing when your itinerary already takes you to those neighborhoods. Crossing town repeatedly to visit every holiday market is rarely the easiest use of a short New York trip.
For a rainy day, start inside Grand Central and add Bryant Park only if the weather improves.
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and other planning pitfalls
The fair is closed on Thursday, November 26, even though Grand Central Terminal may be open for travel. Do not combine a Thanksgiving Day Parade itinerary with an assumed visit to the market.
December 24 is the final fair day, ending at 6 p.m. The market does not list December 25 as an operating day. Also remember that Rockefeller Center’s 2026 Christmas tree arrives on November 7 but is not lit until December 2, so visiting this fair in November does not guarantee a tree-lighting experience.
Confirm the event calendar on the official Grand Central website again before a late-evening or holiday visit.
