Bryant Park Winter Village 2026: Free Skating, Rentals, Holiday Shops & Hours
Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park runs from October 28, 2026 through February 28, 2027. The centerpiece is a 17,000-square-foot ice rink with free skating admission, but “free” does not mean every visit costs zero: bringing your own skates keeps admission free, while 2026/27 skate rentals currently run from $18.72 to $64.48 before taxes depending on date and demand. Holiday Shops run October 28 through January 3, and the rink extends to midnight during the Nov 19–Jan 3 peak period. Use the official reservation flow for the exact date, rental price and session rather than treating one advertised rate as universal.
The rink and core Winter Village season run through February 28, 2027.
Skating admission is free; reservations are still required.
Current 2026/27 rental prices vary by date and include the listed administrative fee before taxes.
The open-air market runs daily, including holidays, with holiday hours subject to change.
Peak hours apply Nov 19 through Jan 3; standard rink hours are 8am–10pm.
Free own-skates reservations roll out daily for dates one week in advance.
Free skating admission is real, but reservations still matter
Bryant Park describes The Rink as New York City’s largest free-admission ice skating rink. If you bring your own skates, the skating admission itself is free.
You still need a reservation and a Winter Village skater wristband to enter the skating area. Own-skates tickets are released on a rolling basis for dates one week out, so “free” should not be read as walk-up access at any time you want.
If you own skates, the best-value strategy is to reserve the free own-skates slot as soon as your date opens.
2026/27 skate rentals currently range from $18.72 to $64.48
The current Winter Village page lists skate rentals at $18.72–$64.48, including a listed $0.72–$2.48 administrative fee, before taxes. Bryant Park explicitly notes that off-peak visits can reduce rental cost.
Because pricing changes by date and demand, do not treat the low end as the guaranteed price for a holiday weekend or December evening. Check the official reservation flow for the exact slot.
Compare a weekday morning with a peak evening before buying; the rental-price spread is large enough to change the value of the visit.
Most skate sessions are 50 minutes on the ice
Bryant Park says almost all standard skate sessions provide 50 minutes of ice time. The ticketed arrival process starts before the ice session: your ice time begins about 20 minutes after the reservation time so there is time to get skates, lace up and store belongings.
Express Lane is a separate paid product with longer ice time and priority access. Do not compare its price directly with a standard rental as if it were the same product.
Peak holiday hours extend the rink to midnight
The Rink is scheduled daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the season, with peak hours from 8 a.m. to midnight between November 19 and January 3.
Late-night availability can be useful for a Midtown itinerary after dinner or a show, but the surrounding holiday crowd can make walking routes and arrival times slower than the map suggests.
Holiday Shops end earlier than the rink season
Holiday Shops by Urbanspace run October 28, 2026 through January 3, 2027. Standard listed hours are 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Bryant Park says the Shops are open daily, including holidays, but holiday and peak-season hours may vary. The rink continues well beyond the market, so a February skating visit is a very different experience from a December Winter Village visit.
No-refund policy makes the reservation time more important
Bryant Park says paid rental-skate tickets are not refundable because of the seasonal nature of Winter Village. Paid reservations can be rescheduled or cancelled for store credit up to one hour before the reservation start time through the booking-management link.
The rink operates rain or shine but can close for heavy rain or severe weather. Bryant Park says it emails guests if a skate session is cancelled for weather.
For uncertain weather, keep the booking email accessible so you can manage the reservation before the one-hour cutoff.
Winter Village fits best as a Midtown cluster, not a standalone cross-town mission
Bryant Park sits naturally between Times Square, Grand Central, Fifth Avenue and the New York Public Library. Pairing it with nearby Midtown stops reduces transit friction during the holiday season.
On NYC Gridlock Alert Days, avoid building a tight schedule around taxis between Bryant Park and another fixed reservation. Walking or subway usually gives the itinerary more resilience.
