Global Citizen Festival NYC 2026: Lineup, Tickets, Times, Bag Rules & Central Park
Global Citizen Festival returns to Central Park’s Great Lawn on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during the UN General Assembly high-level period. With less than a week to go, Global Citizen’s current visitor guidance says gates open at 2 p.m., music starts at 4 p.m., entry closes around 8 p.m. and the show is expected to end around 10 p.m. The current lineup includes Ms. Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Victoria Monét, YEONJUN, YOSHIKI and Alicia Keys & Friends. Tickets are digital, printed tickets do not work, and the organizer recommends saving the Ticketmaster ticket to your phone wallet before arrival because cell service can be limited inside the park. The practical plan now is to lock the correct ticket, verify the bag policy, choose the assigned entrance route and build extra security/transit margin into the day.

Global Citizen Festival is Saturday, September 26 on Central Park’s Great Lawn
Global Citizen lists the 2026 New York festival for Saturday, September 26 on the Great Lawn in Central Park. Gates open at 2 p.m. and music begins at 4 p.m.
The organizer says gates close around 8 p.m. and the show ends around 10 p.m. That makes late arrival a real risk: a valid ticket does not mean you can enter after the gate cutoff.
Treat 2 p.m. as the start of the arrival window, not a target for the first performance. Security, ticket scanning and walking through the park can all add time.
The lineup changed on September 10
Global Citizen announced on September 10 that Alicia Keys & Friends, Victoria Monét, YEONJUN and YOSHIKI have joined the 2026 festival lineup.
They join previously announced performers Ms. Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Hugh Jackman is the host, with additional appearances announced by Global Citizen.
Use the official festival page on the day of the event for any final artist, schedule or appearance changes rather than relying on an older lineup graphic.
There are several ways to get festival tickets in 2026
Global Citizen continues its action-based ticket system: users complete Journeys and Sprints in the Global Citizen app, earn points and use those points for chances to win free tickets.
For 2026, Global Citizen also advertises an Instant Win: Donation Tickets option. After earning enough points, eligible users can claim a limited code and make a $25 charitable donation per ticket, plus applicable fees, to secure admission while that allocation lasts. The organizer is explicit that this is not simply a $25 ticket: action and points come first.
The official festival and ticket pages also list paid General Admission and VIP options through Ticketmaster. Availability and pricing can change, so compare only current official options before committing.
If you are using the free-ticket drawing, read the current eligibility terms before spending time earning entries. The sweepstakes rules are separate from paid ticket options.
The current free-ticket drawing window closes September 21
Global Citizen’s 2026 sweepstakes terms divide the promotion into several drawing periods. The current listed period ends Monday, September 21 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET, so anyone relying on the action-based drawing should treat this as a near-term deadline rather than a day-of ticket plan.
The terms also say the sweepstakes is limited to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who meet the stated age and membership requirements. International visitors should not assume the free drawing is available to them; check the current official ticket page for purchase options instead.
Save the Ticketmaster ticket to your phone wallet before entering the park
Global Citizen says 2026 festival tickets are digital and stored in the attendee’s Ticketmaster account. The organizer specifically recommends saving the ticket to a phone wallet before arrival because connectivity in the park is unreliable.
Do not plan to use a printed ticket. Global Citizen says the barcode is dynamic and a printed version will not work for entry.
Open the ticket at home, add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, charge the phone fully and bring a compact power bank if permitted under the current event rules.
The 2026 bag policy is strict
The current official ticket page allows small clear bags up to 12 × 12 × 6 inches or non-clear clutches and fanny packs up to 4.5 × 6.5 inches. It says no other bags are permitted.
Because this is a large outdoor event with security screening, arriving with an oversized backpack or tote can turn into a failed entry plan rather than a minor inconvenience.
Measure the bag before leaving. Do not rely on what was allowed at a previous Global Citizen Festival or another Central Park event.
The festival is rain or shine, standing-room and no re-entry
Global Citizen lists the festival as rain or shine. The current ticket page also says tickets are standing only unless approved for ADA access.
There is no re-entry. Once you leave the festival area, do not expect to scan back in later. Build food, medication, weather protection and phone-power needs into the plan before passing security.
Use subway plus walking as the default Central Park arrival plan
The Great Lawn sits well inside Central Park, so every route ends with a walk. Your best station can depend on the entrance assigned by the event and on same-day service changes.
Use NYC Dayline’s live MTA Subway Status page before leaving and follow the entrance information attached to your ticket or official event instructions. Avoid choosing a route only from the Great Lawn pin on a map; the event entry point can matter more than the lawn itself.
If you are traveling from outside Manhattan, build a second transit option before you leave. UNGA week can make surface travel less predictable than an ordinary Saturday.
September 26 overlaps the UN General Assembly General Debate
The festival takes place during the UN General Assembly high-level period. The General Debate is scheduled through Saturday, September 26 before resuming Monday, September 28.
The UN activity is concentrated on Manhattan’s East Side rather than the Great Lawn, but it can still add motorcade, security and traffic pressure across the city. This is another reason to prefer rail and walking over a tight car-based arrival plan.
A simple day-of checklist
- Confirm the event is proceeding and recheck the current lineup on Global Citizen’s official page
- Save the Ticketmaster ticket to your phone wallet before leaving home or the hotel
- Charge your phone and bring only a bag that fits the published size limits
- Check NYC weather alerts and bring weather protection that complies with current event rules
- Check live MTA service before choosing a Central Park approach
- Check same-day permitted-event street closures, then follow the festival’s own entrance and security instructions because the city feed is not a complete security closure map
- Follow the entrance instructions tied to your ticket rather than walking to the center of the park first
- Arrive with enough margin for security; no entry is allowed after the organizer’s cutoff
- Remember that there is no re-entry once you leave
Can’t attend? The festival is scheduled to stream live
Global Citizen’s September 10 announcement says the 2026 festival will stream live through several digital platforms, including Amazon Music, Prime Video, Apple Music, iHeartRadio, TikTok, Veeps and YouTube.
Platform availability can vary by location and may change before September 26, so use the official festival page for the final watch options rather than a third-party stream listing.
