NYC is installing 17 new modular public restrooms in 2026
NYC DOT and NYC311 say a one-year modular restroom pilot began rolling out in mid-September 2026 and will continue through late October. The 17 planned sites span the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island.
The units are free, ADA-accessible and designed to operate daily from 7 AM to 10 PM. Access can be unlocked by text message, QR code, the Throne Bathroom Network app or a locally distributed tap card.
