New York Games Week 2026: What Is Happening Across NYC Oct. 4–11
The inaugural New York Games Week is underway through October 11, turning venues across New York City into a distributed week of showcases, meetups, tournaments, industry events and fan programming. There is no single venue or all-access ticket, so the useful way to plan it is to start with the official calendar and choose individual events.
Eight days of events across New York City.
Independent organizers host events under one shared week rather than at one convention center.
New York Comic Con is part of the week’s broader fan-event calendar.
New York Games Week is a network of events, not one convention
The official Games Week site describes the program as an annual citywide celebration bringing together developers and industry professionals for showcases, education, panels and parties. That matters for visitors: an event listed under Games Week can have its own venue, registration process, audience and admission rules.
Do not travel to a single “Games Week venue” expecting to find the whole program. Open the event you want on the official calendar and confirm its location and registration requirements first.
What is happening next
The official calendar lists Advertising Week’s Gaming Summit and an Indie Dev Feedback playtest for Monday, October 5. Tuesday brings the NYC Game Design Future Lab Demo Day, followed by a denser Wednesday schedule.
On Wednesday, October 7, Game-A-Palooza opens its public indie-game showcase at 1 p.m. The calendar also lists developer meetings, a Champions Challenge tournament and the NYC Indie Games Social that day.
Game-A-Palooza arrives before Comic Con
The official calendar lists Game-A-Palooza for Wednesday, October 7 as an indie-game showcase with a public session. NYU Tandon also announced programming tied to New York Games Week through its Brooklyn-based NYC Game Design Future Lab.
For visitors interested in local game development rather than only major entertainment brands, the midweek developer programming is one of the clearest reasons to look beyond the Comic Con dates.
New York Comic Con is the biggest anchor later in the week
New York Comic Con runs October 8–11 at the Javits Center and appears on the Games Week calendar as a fan event. Treat NYCC ticketing and entry as a separate planning task: being interested in Games Week does not replace the badge, schedule and venue requirements for Comic Con.
If you are already attending NYCC, check the Games Week calendar for evening or off-site events that fit naturally around your convention day rather than crossing the city repeatedly.
How to plan the week
- Start with the official Games Week calendar
- Open each event separately and confirm admission or registration
- Group events geographically when possible
- Keep NYCC badge and Javits planning separate
- Recheck the calendar on the day because event details can change
