NJ TRANSIT currently lists AirTrain service between Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station and the airport terminals as replaced by shuttle bus service through November 13. Rail service still reaches the airport rail station; the temporary change affects the terminal connection, so allow extra transfer time and recheck the same-day advisory before relying on a tight connection.

Prearranged private car
Best when predictability has real valueConsider it for larger vehicles, accessibility requirements, child-seat arrangements, meet-and-greet service or a coordinated group pickup. Price the complete service rather than a headline transfer rate.
Airport name alone is not enough.
The final hotel location, the number of people, the luggage/accessibility burden and the arrival time can reverse the transfer choice.
Hotel location
The same airport can be excellent for one neighborhood and awkward for another. Compare airport-to-hotel travel, not airport-to-“Manhattan” as if the city were one point.
Party size
Transit is generally priced per traveler while a car is shared by the vehicle. The economics can change sharply between one traveler and a group.
Luggage and mobility
Transfers, stairs, elevator availability, long station walks and vehicle capacity can matter more than a small fare difference after a long flight.
Arrival time and live service
A route that is easy in the afternoon can become a poor late-night choice when frequency, planned work or the last connection changes. Recheck live service before leaving the terminal.

Newark transfer routes
Rail can be especially useful for Midtown, while Lower Manhattan and other destinations may produce a different transfer decision.
