NYC Alternate Side Parking Suspension Calendar 2026
New York City suspends alternate side parking rules on specific legal and religious holidays, and it can add emergency suspensions for weather or other conditions. Use this annual calendar to plan ahead, then confirm the live NYC311 status before relying on a suspension today.
Labor Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Succoth are on the 2026 ASP calendar.

How to use the 2026 ASP calendar
The annual DOT calendar is the planning layer: it lists the legal and religious holidays when alternate side parking street-cleaning rules are scheduled to be suspended.
The live NYC311 status is the decision layer. Weather, snow operations, emergencies and temporary local changes can create suspensions that are not part of the annual holiday calendar.
Before leaving a car parked for a scheduled cleaning period, check the live NYC311 ASP status on the same day.
Fall and winter suspensions
An asterisk marks a major legal holiday. Those days have broader parking-rule effects than an ordinary ASP suspension.

Major legal holidays are different
On major legal holidays, NYC DOT says parking meter regulations are suspended. Certain No Stopping, No Standing and No Parking rules can also be suspended when the posted restriction is not normally in effect seven days a week.
That does not mean every curb restriction disappears. A rule such as “No Standing Anytime” remains in effect, and signs that operate seven days a week still control.
What happens on other ASP holidays
On the other listed holidays, the annual suspension applies to alternate side parking street-cleaning rules only. Other parking regulations remain in effect.
This distinction matters because a driver can be legally exempt from a street-cleaning move and still violate a separate posted restriction.
Emergency and weather suspensions
NYC may suspend ASP because of snow, severe weather or other emergencies. DOT notes that these decisions can be made late because conditions change quickly.
Temporary neighborhood suspensions can also happen when street-cleaning regulations are being changed and signs are being updated. These local changes do not automatically suspend unrelated parking rules.
