Where the Congestion Relief Zone applies
The Congestion Relief Zone covers Manhattan south of and including 60th Street, with specified excluded roadways. The toll is generally charged when an eligible vehicle enters the zone, not simply because it remains parked or drives inside after entry.
Passenger vehicles and motorcycles are generally charged no more than once per day under the current structure.
Peak and overnight rates are very different
The MTA defines peak hours as 5 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on weekends. Overnight rates are substantially lower.
Use the overnight option only when the entry itself occurs during the official overnight period.
E-ZPass changes the price
New York E-ZPass rates are lower than Tolls by Mail rates. Make sure the vehicle and license plate are correctly associated with the account so the intended rate can be applied.

Crossing credits apply only in specific cases
During peak periods, qualifying vehicles entering through the Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Hugh L. Carey Tunnel or Queens Midtown Tunnel can receive a credit against the Congestion Relief Zone toll when the required payment conditions are met.
The credit is not a general discount for every entry and is not offered overnight under the current schedule.
