NYC Airport Transit Cost Calculator: JFK, LaGuardia & Newark

Choose an airport, transit option and group size to estimate the public-transportation cost into New York. The calculator separates airport access fares from subway, LIRR or NJ TRANSIT costs so you can see what you are actually paying for.

Fare breakdown$8.75 AirTrain + $3 subway
Per traveler$11.75
Group total$23.50
01

JFK: AirTrain plus subway

A standard JFK trip via Jamaica or Howard Beach combines the $8.75 AirTrain fare with the $3 subway fare, making the usual one-person total $11.75.

AirTrain travel within the airport is free; the paid fare applies at Jamaica and Howard Beach.

02

JFK: AirTrain plus LIRR

At Jamaica, LIRR CityTicket can be useful for Penn Station or Grand Central. The 2026 CityTicket price is $5.25 off-peak and $7.25 peak, on top of the AirTrain fare.

The higher price can be worthwhile when the rail destination and travel time fit your itinerary.

03

LaGuardia: fare-free Q70 connection

The LaGuardia Link Q70 remains fare-free and connects the airport with Jackson Heights and Woodside. From there, the subway costs $3, while LIRR uses the applicable CityTicket fare.

This keeps public-transit costs from LaGuardia especially low when your destination works with those connections.

04

Newark: NJ TRANSIT to New York Penn

NJ TRANSIT currently lists the adult fare from Newark Liberty International Airport to New York Penn Station at $17.25.

PATH can also be useful for Lower Manhattan through Newark Penn, but that is a different fare combination than the direct airport-to-New-York-Penn rail trip.
