It is not a substitute for Liberty Island access
You can see the Statue of Liberty from the harbor, but the ferry does not stop at Liberty Island. Choose the Staten Island Ferry when the view is enough; choose the official Liberty Island ferry when you want to visit the monument and Ellis Island.
Give St. George a little time
If your schedule allows, step outside the terminal and explore the immediate waterfront or continue to nearby Staten Island attractions. This makes the trip feel less like a simple out-and-back photo ride.
